Voter Action Pinellas announced an upcoming Get out the Vote rally on October 1st at the Performing Arts Center in Largo. See flyer below for details, times, and registration.
Jill H. made a plea for all members to get involved with one of our wonderful candidates’ campaign efforts. Head out to knock doors, stay home and phone bank, or donate money if you can. We need to get our like-minded candidates into office this November. Be sure to educate your friends and family too; relational networking is the best way to get out the vote.
Tim Hughes: Candidate for Pinellas County Commissioner, Seat 3 Countywide
Tim discussed his top 5 issues he will fight for which include Public Transportation, Affordable Housing, Affordable Clean Energy, Infrastructure Investment, and our Parks and Aquatic Reserves. Find out more, or volunteer to help his campaign at his website linked on his name.
Curtis Campogni: Candidate for School Board District 3 (At-Large)
Let’s put a dad on the school board! If you want to know where Curtis stands, check out his website linked on his name. He has a whole page with clear goals outlined.
Jordan Hensley: Special Election for State Senate District 21
Jordan candidly explained that he is not a career politician. He is not backed by a machine. He has a unique perspective as a working person here in our community, listening to his customers talk repeatedly about rent going up, insurance doubling, wages standing still. He is one of us, and he is done waiting for someone else to fix it. Find out more at his website linked on his name.
Wendy Hoy: Candidate for State House District 57
Wendy wants to protect and strengthen our families, public schools, libraries, local services, and our local environment including Florida coastlines, wetlands, and natural habitats. Wendy is a Board Member of the Friends of the Library and is running against the incumbent who is a big developer. Wendy doesn’t claim to have every answer, but knows how to listen, learn, and act with integrity. Find out more at her website linked on her name.
Suncoast Sierra Club: Bryan Beckman (Executive Committee), Tim Hughes, and Cathy Harrelson, Former Chair of Sierra Club, Founder of the St. Pete Sustrainability Council, and Founder of the Urban Foresty Committee.
Bryan and Tim spoke about the Florida (and Pinellas specific) environmental concerns regarding data centers and the importance of speaking with our County Commissioners who are the most open to the idea of slowing the progress of new data center construction.
