Thank you to Tina, Neil, Neil, Mike and Michael for a wonderful evening. Tonight’s featured topic was “Engaging in conversations with MAGA supporters”, a timely and important discussion as we reflect on the election results and look ahead.

Why This Matters

After a hard-fought election season, many of us are navigating difficult conversations with friends, family members, neighbors, and coworkers who hold different political views. Rather than retreating into our separate corners, tonight’s presenters shared practical tips and strategies for having effective, respectful conversations across the political divide.

The goal is not to “win” an argument, it’s to find common ground, understand where the other person is coming from, and plant seeds of shared values that transcend partisan labels.

Discussions with MAGA Supporters, Resource Collection

A compilation of videos and links that were presented and discussed at tonight’s meeting has been collected into a dedicated resource page with tips and strategies for having effective conversations with MAGA supporters.

Note: The original resource page was hosted on Google Sites at Discussions with MAGA Supporters. We encourage members to also explore the organizations below for ongoing support in bridging the divide.

Braver Angels

Braver Angels is leading the nation’s largest cross-partisan, volunteer-led movement to bridge the partisan divide and strengthen our democratic republic. They offer e-courses on skills for productive conversations across political lines.

Leaving MAGA

Leaving MAGA works to empower others to leave MAGA and tell their stories, foster reconciliation with their friends and family, and develop movement leaders to help others leave.

Looking Ahead

Our next meeting will be in January 2025. We discussed the December elections, how to support local organizations, and the issue of homeowners’ insurance. The work continues, and it starts with how we show up for each other, even when we disagree.

In solidarity.
