New Law Protects Florida State Parks from Development

During the spring of 2025, a plan was disclosed that called for building lodges, golf courses and more in nine Florida state parks. Statewide opposition by a variety of groups and citizens resulted in the passing of the State Park Preservation Act in May 2025.

This was a massive win for conservation and demonstrated that public outcry can override private interests when communities organize effectively.
